Wani Ngembeg

Synopsis
A collective of local youths known as BOSSENI is striving to preserve, uplift, and change people’s perception of ebeg by organizing an ebeg performance without the janturan ritual called EbegFest in Banjarnegara Square. Jalu Pamungkas, the head of BOSSENI and initiator of EbegFest, faced various challenges from disapproving authorities and artists because it diminished the characteristics of ebeg that had long been passed down. However, every challenge did not break BOSSENI’s commitment to preserve the culture, even by adapting to the changing era.
