Synopsis
Titi, a Mentawai tattoo custom, is a traditional art form signifying the identity and distinctiveness of the Mentawai people. Titi is not merely motifs taken from the local environment, made from natural ink and inserted into the flesh under the skin, but is directly related to their ancestral beliefs, Arat Sabulungan.

Rahung Nasution
Originally from Tano Batak, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra. Rahung studied documentary filmmaking independently when he was in Timor-Leste from 2000-2006. For him, documentary films can be a form of expression of struggle that captures the images and voices of those who are marginalized. Through documentaries, Rahung actively raises concerns over social issues and matters, including his involvement in the production of Pulau Plastik (Dandhy Laksono, 2021). Rahung is also engaged in kitchen activities and is learning to be a romantic father.

Aman Manai Durga Sipatiti
Aman Manai Durga Sipatiti is a visual artist with a passion for the tradition of body art or tattooing. Durga has traveled extensively in Siberut, Mentawai Islands, and Kalimantan in his exploration of Mentawai and Kalimantan tattoos to encourage the younger generation to love their tribe’s identity. Durga is still actively promoting the hand-tapping tattoo technique through his studio, Durga Tattoo.
