Compiling oral histories, the project sought to intervene in Indonesia’s dark history through a different set of narratives to the ones that have been taught in schools, on national television, and in official commemorations–aiming to provoke a process of reconciliation over the impact of the 1965 mass killings.

Rangga Purbaya
Rangga Purbaya is an artist whose interests revolve around history, archives, and collective memory. His work combines various mediums, including photography, text, mixed-media, video installation, and performance. He graduated from the Photography Department at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta. In 2002, he founded Ruang MES 56, an art collective focusing on the development of photography and contemporary art that integrates other disciplines with a critical and contextual approach. In 2015, he became one of the founding members of 1965 Setiap Hari, a transnational research collective using social media in Indonesia. His artistic practice raises sociopolitical issues through an investigative approach that uncovers personal histories, remaps memories, and explores identities.
Sirin Farid Stevy
Sirin Farid Stevy is a visual artist, graphic designer, and singer-songwriter in FSTVLST (festivalist) based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He graduated from the Visual Communication Design department in the Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. Intergenerational communication, pop culture, identity, and history are his main interests. Through his visual art, graphic design, lyrics, and music performance with his band, Farid spoke to his young audience about equality as a response to sociocultural discrimination and stigmatization issues.
