The Park

Synopsis
In May 2013 the plan to build a shopping center and a mosque in the place of a small park next to Taksim Square in Istanbul provokes unexpected critique. On that day thousands of people start an occupation of Gezi Park triggering the spreading of anti-governmental protests in many cities. The film is a journey across Turkey during the “Twitter revolution”. Its road leads through major cities which have joined the protests, as well as provincial towns and remote villages where small communities are now divided along political lines. „The Park” depicts various concerns and hopes in face of a potential revolution, illustrating a conflict that is deeply rooted in the country’s history.
