Story Behind The Audience

Synopsis
At the beginning, Ali only wanted to meet his idol in “Dahsyat”, a music reality show. But now, he’s already moved passed taking photos together with his idol, he goes to RCTI studio being involved in a shooting. He’s not an artist, neither does he a model. He’s a waiter of seafood restaurant in Bilangan, West Jakarta. Like an entertainer, every morning he appears in the show. His job is simple: to clap and enliven the show. “Think it as being exist in TV,” commented Ali.
Inviting Ali and hundreds of other people as paid audiences everyday of course is not a simple matter. He’s Harsono, a coordinator of the paid audiences. He gathered people from Kedoya to Tangerang to appear in TV every morning while getting paid. ” ‘Penonton alay’ is half a public figure,” Harsono explained. In between claps and glamour of the show, Ali and Harsono and hundreds of paid audiences stood far from the real spotlight.
It is a documentary on the other side of television industry. An attempt to requestioning the meaning of ‘being in television’.
