Synopsis
The Rote Islanders, who live in Indonesia’s southernmost edge, have carried on the ancient art of ikat weaving for hundreds of years. As the wombs that nurture the Rote people’s civilization, women play an essential part in this long journey. Mama Masri, one of the last remaining weavers, facing the complexities of life as a mother, wife, and weaver.

Suharditia Trisna
Suharditia Trisna, commonly called Tia, was born in Bekasi in 1997. Tia is very interested in the issues of human rights violations and history. Through his film, Tia hopes to strengthen solidarity between vulnerable groups.

Rinny Jueni Suek
Author of the book Trails of Magic and the Pride of the Rote People, Rinny is the top graduate of the Ikat Weaving Engineering Study Program in 2023 at Nusa Cendana University, Kupang. She is a recipient of the 2023 Dana Indonesiana grant from the Indonesian Ministry of Culture.

Panji Pangestu
A documentary filmmaker since 2019. Panji Pangestu completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Film and Television, Jakarta Institute of the Arts (2019), and an alumni of the Associazione Culturale Cinemadamare di Roma, Italy (2023). He completed his postgraduate education at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2025).

Wisnu Nalle
A documentary film producer and director who has traveled across Indonesia to capture the beauty of its diverse cultures and traditions. With his work highlighting local wisdom, Wisnu won the Best Film award at the 2015 Eagle Awards Documentary Competition.
