RITUAL, Part IV: The Blends

Synopsis
Samarinda (East Kalimantan) is growing in diversity due to the interest of foreigners who are eyeing its natural resources. The blend occurred without considering the history and geography of the city, which led to its chaotic development. Along with these, the Indonesian government is preparing to relocate the country’s capital not far from the city.

Robby Ocktavian
Robby Ocktavian is a Samarinda-born artist and arts organizer who works in film, sound art, and performance art. He likes to show films in the “cracks” of Samarinda with friends from Sindikat Sinema, a collective he founded. He also studied International Relations at Mulawarman University in Samarinda and studied visual production at Milisifilem programme. He currently works as the director of Muara Kreasi Merdeka Foundation, a non-profit organization that organizes MUARASUARA-Sound Art Festival and Neladeva Film Festival in Samarinda.
