Synopsis

A villager of Desa Jepitu named Rubiyanto conducted a water extraction project from Gua Pulejajar with a group of volunteers. Echa, a student of cultural anthropology involved herself in the project for her research purposes. The water reserve in Gua Pulejajar does not only give hope to Rubiyanto and the other villagers of Desa Jepitu, but also reignites spiritual relations between Echa and her late father, who was a former activist of Gua Pulejajar.

  • Khusnul Khitam

    Khusnul Khitam was born in Pekalongan on April 14, 1982. He studied communication science at Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta. He made his first short film in 2002 when he was still studying broadcasting at Akademi Komunikasi Indonesia (Akindo) Yogyakarta. Since 2007, he has been working as a director and scriptwriter. In 2010, one of his short films, Debt, received the Best Screenplay award at the Indonesian Film Festival and a special jury award for the short film Kotak Amal Ramadhan. His first feature-length documentary, Pulejajar, was presented at the Festival Film Dokumenter and the WaterDocs International film festival. His latest fiction film, Alang-alang (Sound from the Sea), premiered at Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival 2022.
