Behind Closed Doors

Synopsis
In 1968, Brazil’s military government passed a law that ushered in the most violent period of dictatorship. The meeting was recorded but remained secret for decades. The documentary combines these audio tracks with propaganda films of the time.

João Pedro Bim
João Pedro Bim is a film producer and researcher from São Paulo, Brazil. Partner of the production company A Flor e a Náusea, he produced the documentary series Social Housing—Projects of Brazil (2019), the multi-awarded short films Liberty (2018) and Still Agony (2018) and the feature Panorama (2021), as was associate producer of the commercially distributed feature The Young Baumann (2018). He also works as an archival footage researcher in documentary features and series. In 2023, Bim debuted as director with the documentary feature Behind Closed Doors.

Matheus Rufino
Matheus Rufino has been a founding partner of the production company A Flor e A Náusea since 2015. He produced the feature films Behind Closed Doors (João Pedro Bim, 2023) selected in IDFA, Havana Film Festival, True/False, Lima Film Festival, and Riverock (Paula Gaitán, 2019) that have been selected in Sheffield DocFest and DocLisboa. Asides from producing feature-length films, he was involved in numerous film productions including series and shorts. Rufino also served as associate producer for the feature film The Young Baumann (Bruna Carvalho Almeida, 2018) and There May be Crowds Among Us (Aiano Bemfica, Pedro Maia de Brito, 2020).
