“SCHOOL OF SEEING” TALKING MONEY (2018) DISCUSSION | LOOP STATION YOGYAKARTA

Integrated under the program “School of Seeing” from In-Docs which will screen and discuss about the movie Talking Money (2018). This program is a continuation of the previous discussion.

“LANSKAP” | Q&A | AUDITORIUM IFI-LIP

The program “Lanskap” will screen four movies: O-Sepig (2018), Merahnya Biru (2018), Liefde (2018), Going Home to Indonesia (2018). The four movies offered a point of view to construe Indonesian documentary movies; while simultaneously to see Indonesia through the lens of documentary. Starting from the story of how flexible the nation’s geographical boundaries are through ojek work at the Indonesia-Malaysia border in O-Sepig. The life of a takoyaki seller in Little Tokyo, Blok M, how he views Japanese culture through the relation between his life and development in Merahnya Biru. Liefde captured Enang’s search, tracing the history that had been erased over time, and reestablish the relation between great grandmother and her granddaughter, while also questioning the meaning of family. To Going Home to Indonesia, presents a family’s return to Indonesia after several years living in France.

SMALL TALK (2016) | SOCIETET TBY

Small Talk portrayed a corner of Taiwan through the unusual relation of a mother and her child. Between them, there was nothing sweet and touching happened. There were just dark sides that were brought be the subjects in the movie.

IN THE STILLNESS OF THE SOUNDS (2018) | AUDITORIUM IFI-LIP

In the Stillness of Sounds it offered the events where human responded the nature through audio. Someone called Marc, dedicated his life to sounds, recorded new noises he met in the forest of Vosges Mountain.

DOC TALK “PROGRAMMING ON TABLE: SIASAT PROGRAM DAN PENONTON” | AMPHITHEATER TBY

With Alexander Matius, Fanwu and Chris Fujiwara, the programming practice was discussed to see the work that wasn’t less heavy than documentary filmmaker. Here, they will share their experiences as programmer in various festival of movie screening. This program helps the movie aesthetics to enter the commercial world.

PHOTO FARAG (2016) | SOCIETET TBY

Photo Farag, one of the movies from feature-length movie category competition, offered the story of an Iraq-Jewish descendant family from Baghdad. The problems Faraq’s family faced encouraged the audience to meet the golden era of their photography business that was in contrast with the present condition.

RETROSPEKTIF HARUN FAROCKI | AUDITORIUM IFI-LIP

In this slot will be screened Worker Leaving the Factory (1995), a documentary essay where Farocki explored this scene through the history of movie, producing a marvelous cinematography analysis in the cinematography medium itself, began with Chaplin’s Modern Times, Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, to Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Accatone!. This screening will be followed with a discussion session accompanied with Fiky Daulay from KUNCI Cultural Studies as the speaker and Mahardika Yudha from Forum Lenteng as the respondent.

GOODNIGHT & GOODBYE (2018) | Q&A | AUDITORIUM IFI-LIP

A subject exploration in the beginning of his creation. Through this exploration, the audience was invited to enter the dark shadows in and dark corners of limitless memories.

GOLDEN MEMORIES (2018) | Q&A | SOCIETET TBY

Family cinema history has been explored to neighboring countries, presenting a discourse rarely discussed in the mainstream. Every interviewee met gave fresh air in Indonesian world of cinema.

PERSPEKTIF | AMPHITHEATER TBY

In this slot, the audience could watch two movies from the program “Perspektif”: X-Galeri (2017) and Adorable Girl (2018). X-Galeri invited the audience to know the hustle and bustle of behind the scene workers. Many of them offered the reality of the workers whose working hours and operations were impossible to be done every day. While Adorable Girl by Kundu Sudipta, captured the life of Ladli, an alienated girl by her own clan in her journey to find meaning from her life and the body she has.

HOLDING HANDS WITH ILSE (2017) | Q&A | AUDITORIUM IFI-LIP

This movie from the program “Human, Frame by Frame” told Ravett’s search, the director, of a German girl who had been taking care of him in the year 1948—1950 in Walbrzych, Poland, Ravett’s birthplace. With clues only the name of the girl and their photo taken in 1950, the director explored the urban landscape of West Poland. His search ends with their rendezvous in Ibbenbüren, Germany.

SOLVING MY MOTHER (2017) | AMPHITHEATER TBY

A young mathematician was suffering from his life crisis. He blamed his mother for all the failure he had experienced. Born in an academician family which later divorced, he began to feel disappointed with his present life. Through the unique relation of mother and her child, we were served a creative and destructive story of affection. This movie became one of the finalists in category feature-length documentary.

Kamu dapat menikmati instalasi ini dari hari Kamis 6 Desember-Selasa 11 Desember di Ruang Epson, TBY pada pukul 14.00-17.30 WIB dan 18.30-21.00 WIB. Waterland (2018) merupakan satu bagian program DocSound yang  menghadirkan posisi suara di kehidupan keseharian melalui medium film. Pilihan film dalam program ini memperlakukan elemen suara sebagai kekuatan utamanya dan membuka perspektif baru dalam mendekati hubungan antara film, suara, dan kehidupan keseharian kita.

4 dokumenter pendek berbasis VR, akan dapat kamu nikmati di slot ini dari Kamis 6 Desember hingga Selasa 11 Desember di Ruang Galeri TBY pada pukul 13.00-16.00 WIB dan 18.30-20.30 WIB. Gaza’s Amputee Football Team, Cuba’s Blind Baseball, Living with Disability, dan The Curse of Palm Oil, merupakan bagian dari  program Feelings of Reality yang hadir untuk memperluas pengaruh film-film yang menyuarakan isu disabilitas dengan cara menayangkan film dokumenter dan film dokumenter berbasis VR (Virtual Reality)
