The Feelings of Reality

The Feelings of Reality is an interactive documentary workshop that utilizes virtual reality (VR) technology to broaden storytelling possibilities in documentary filmmaking. Through production workshops and intensive mentorship, the program invites filmmakers to explore new artistic approaches while incorporating immersive technology as a medium to create a viewing experience that feels closer to reality.

The program begins with a field research phase to map out the issues encountered by people with disabilities, serving as the foundation for project development. This process continues with production workshops led by mentors, followed by an exhibition at Festival Film Dokumenter 2019. This approach places research, production, and the presentation of the works as an interconnected series of steps in building a dialogue between filmmakers, subjects, and the public.

Through The Feelings of Reality, Forum Film Dokumenter explores the potential of technology as part of documentary practice: one that can expand the audience’s experience while opening up space for conversation about the rights of people with disabilities.
