Festival Film Dokumenter 2009
- Pengantar Festival
The green octagon in the festival logo this year is not there without any meaning. These octagon marks indicate that the Festival Film Dokumenter will be held again. From Sunday till Saturday, Komunitas Dokumenter presents an array of documentaries and programs worth as a reference in the realm of Indonesia documentary film work.
Along with the political theme, Festival Film Dokumenter 2009 will see the political problems from a more personal and subtle perspective. Politics is no longer meant as an art to influence others. In a wide perspective, politics has always been a determination of the human relationship with a specific value system in form or at all the good aspects of economic policy, political, social system, political and also cultural.
Looking back into history, documentary was born as the first child of film. This aspect of documentary is then divided into certain directions and of course with a basic understanding that the documentary is also ‘creative treatment of reality’ inherent in a product or medi whether it was the process of documenting and distribution processes. While on the other hand, the public collective memory of Indonesia is still grueling about how provocative documentaries always are. A documentary played as a bitter story for the nation. Memory power and how it is immortalized with this medium makes the point notion of documenta favor no longer relevant in the context of reality. In fact, the documentary is a matter of reality, personal, private sphere and how it reflects reality with freedom.
Days rolled and rules changed. Human kind learns and develops documentaries. At this point the documentary grows without the attitude and clear message is considered as nothing. And politics is no longer a taboo for anyone. Propaganda became stale. The documentary has a love and hate relationship ‘differently’ with politics and the language of power. Resistant advocacy, mediation, and literacy and many other documentary derivatives function as medium in relation to politics and power are created without any worries. So what you see then is the attitude and partisanship that determines firmness and messages of conveying reality.
This year you will see man in connection with personal political territory, to see how huma as a part of the country’s smallest part become creators and actors of culture, understanding how people become subjects and objects in the economic system as well as top predators of the ecosystem in making a decisive choice. Or even worse, seeing how people have no choice and are forced to accept the option chosen.
We want to probe further about the attitudes and messages, and all the extent to which the documentary makers ‘political choice in taking partisanship. And believe that change is no longer determined by the accumulation of white collar and blue collar sweat dripping from the walls of the factory and checking the political swimmers from their own country, as well as from any other country. Because politics is selfhood, personal is the political.
Long live for the better world.
