She starred in 42 classic movies, was hailed as The Queen of Indonesian Horror and crowned Asia’s Most Popular Actress. But, who was Suzzanna Martha Frederika van Osch, long-beloved by the Asian world as Suzzanna yet virtually unknown outside it? Through exclusive interviews with family, colleagues, filmmakers, and historians, as well as clips from her classic films, director David Gregory unearths the legacy of the Scream Queen who has begun to emerge as one of the most compelling icons in cinema history.

David Gregory
Producer/Director David Gregory made his first feature-length documentary, Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The Shocking Truth, in 2000 for the distribution company he co-founded, Blue Underground. He soon went on to direct and often produce and edit over 100 documentary features and shorts. He made his narrative feature-directing debut in 2008 with Plague Town, which he also co-wrote and co-edited. Gregory co-produced and co-directed the 2011 Grand Guignol-inspired anthology horror feature The Theatre Bizarre, and it was during post-production that David began the process of making Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr. Moreau. In 2023, David co-produced and directed Enter the Clones of Bruce, which premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival.
Ekky Imanjaya
Ekky Imanjaya is a co-producer of Suzzanna: the Queen of Black Magic (2024). He is a faculty member of the Film Department at Binus University. His first short documentary, MACET! (TRAFFIC JAM!, 2005) won Best Documentary at the GTZ Sustainable Urban Transport Project in Bangkok. His documentary The Tielmans about the pioneering Dutch-Indonesian Indorock band was selected by the 2011 JAFF and became part of JAFF Archive.
