Synopsis
Sa’diang works as a passauq wai (water gatherer) on Sungai Mandar (the Mandar River) in Tinambung, West Sulawesi, Indonesia. In their routine, Sa’diang walks along Sungai Mandar to find a water source by digging sand, then gathers water and pours it into jerry cans. Hundreds of jerry cans are then transported by floating along Sungai Mandar, facing various threats, including encounters with crocodiles.

Ulfa Evitasari
Ulfa Evitasari was born in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi on July 2, 1997 and is a graduate of ISBI South Sulawesi majoring in TV and Film. Ulfa is a director and screenwriter of short films and is the initiator of Tobaine Project, the first women’s film group in Makassar. Her documentary, The Netra(L), was screened at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival. Her film, Rindu Tenggelam, was awarded the best film at Festival Film Puskat 2020 and nominated for the short film award at Piala Maya. Currently, Ulfa is developing her documentary about Mandar women.
Rahmawati Addas
Rahmawati Addas was born in Ujung Pandang, South Sulawesi. She completed Film and Television studies at PDD ISI Surakarta and is actively involved in various film productions. She produced the short documentary film The Netra(L) (2019), and is a line producer in the short film anthology Yang Pulang dan Tak Kembali under the title Jalan Pulang (2019). She is also a producer in the short film Sepasang Sandal (2019) a work of collaboration between four universities. Currently, she is involved in the first women’s film group in Makassar, Tobaine Project. She is also part of KISIKISI, a cross-disciplinary and gender-inclusive collective. Currently, Rara is gathering grassroots female filmmakers from all over Indonesia into a collaborative collective. She describes the initiative as female filmmakers across borders, reflecting the spectrum of members’ backgrounds.
