This film presented a story of Palestine’s layer of conflicts. The story of three teenagers taking refuge in Yarmouk which captured the complicated life drama. Between the desire to survive, maintaining the group, or flee.
COMPETITION –REMAPPING THE ORIGINS | SOCIETET – TAMAN BUDAYA YOGYAKARTA
Remapping the Origins is one of the selected seven films of feature-length documentary program. This work by Johannes Gierlinger discussed the city Bialystok, the place where Dziga Vertov and Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhov were born. In the form of essay, the present events were associated with the history.
DOC-TALK: FILM CRITICISM – AREN’T WE ALL? |AMPHITHEATRE TBY
With Chris Fujiwara and Adrian Jonathan Pasaribu, Festival Film Dokumenter invited the audience to examine the practice of film critics in Indonesia through questions such as how film critics are present in Indonesia with its unstable cinematic situation and does the change of media influence an entity from critics.

“Human, Frame by Frame” is a program that highlights human and its surrounding events, discussing Fajar Merah’s struggle in retelling his father’s stories through composed and sung songs. Fajar hoped that his effort could bring fresh breeze for human rights violation cases in Indonesia, which its political conditions are currently changing.

Five films of short category competition will be screened consecutively and present critics regarding some issues. DEATHCROW48 highlights the practice of idol, The Nameless Boy comprehends the hate speech in its surrounding through the body of a child, Swara Kalbu shows the persistence of loving their happiness, NIQAB: We Are Not Different which underlines the blasphemy case and phobia to hijab, Lahir di Darat, Besar di Laut which told the story of a fisherman who bets his life.
MAKALA |SOCIETET TAMAN BUDAYA YOGYAKARTA
This program offered various narrative style in documentary films, presenting a Congolese film titled Makala. The film told the story of a young farmer who decided to give his all to his lover. He didn’t have many capitals; all he has is his strong hands and solid determination.

The audience was invited to explore Hersri Setiawan’s memories when he was isolated, adding the variety of violence cases that have happened in Indonesia. His longing towards his friends and his younger life became hard to believe and just flew away, since sites that were consciously removed have crushed Hersri’s journey in proving the history.
GOLDEN MEMORIES (PETITE HISTOIRE OF INDONESIAN CINEMA) | AUDITORIUM IFI-LIP
Exploring the Indonesian family cinematic trace with three filmmakers, even to Netherland, produced new founding when they met Kwee Zwan Liang and Rusdi Attamimi. The aesthetics and facts of family cinema from generation to generation, becoming an entity to add new layers in Indonesian film history.

Photo Farag, one of the movies from feature-length movie category competition, offered the story of an Iraq-Jewish descendant family from Baghdad. The problems Faraq’s family faced encouraged the audience to meet the golden era of their photography business that was in contrast with the present condition.

The selected movies in this program treat the element of sound as the main strength to open new perspective in approaching the relation between movies, sounds, and our daily life.

Four documentaries VR based could be enjoyed in this slot on Thursday December 6th until Tuesday December 11th at Gallery Room TBY on 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Gaza’s Amputee Football Team, Cuba’s Blind Baseball, Living with Disability, and The Curse of Palm Oil are the movies from the program “Feelings of Reality” which will be presented to widen the influence of disability issue movies with a documentary and VR approach.
