Ringan Sama Dijinjing

Program Notes

Films have political power in voicing social issues. Audiovisual narratives are capable of providing a collective perspective that can have a greater structural impact. How can documentaries become an effective medium for advocacy? How can they speak out without trivializing? How do directors attempt to collectively engage emotions and encourage debate on complex issues? This session opens with a film presentation on the social context and awareness of health and education, which are always relevant topics for various perspectives.

This discussion is preceded by a screening of Planet of Love (Ika Wulandari, 2025).
