Festival Film Dokumenter 2012

It has been a long and windy road for these young men to finally form this community. It was started from Forum Dokumenter, then Komunitas Dokumenter, and finally Komunitas Dokumenter Indonesia. This is not just a mere change of its name, but it is actually a response for the needs to improve the Indonesian documentary quality and quantity. It also aims to create new spaces for documentary production in Indonesia.

Komunitas Dokumenter Indonesia is a community that is concerned with documentary film matters. This community was formed by some youths with the spirit of togetherness and actively involved in documentary appreciation, production, archiving, research and documentary dissemination. This collective workgroup started their activity in 2002 (haven’t used the name Komunitas Dokumenter Indonesia yet) and aims to build infrastructure in Indonesian documentaries. The programs are human resources development, archive and information center, dissemination and networking, education and workshop, and organizing the annual Festival Film Dokumenter. Komunitas Dokumenter Indonesia is a non-profit based and neutral community.

This 2012 Festival Film Dokumenter is a debut for Komunitas Dokumenter Indonesia collective workgroup. Next year, we will hold annual programs such as workshops, discussion, film screening, archiving, distribution, and then close by the 2013 festival.
