Yogyakarta, 19 November 2022<\/b> \u2013 Festival Film Dokumenter 2022 has officially ended. After being held for six days in a row since 14 November 2022, tonight the award winners of the competition program were announced. Here are the awarded films of this year\u2019s festival:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

International Feature\u2013Length Documentary Competition | Kompetisi Dokumenter Panjang Internasional <\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

International Feature\u2013Length Documentary Competition Category <\/b>of<\/span> Festival Film Dokumenter 2022 is awarded to<\/span> I Remember (Watashi wa Oboeteiru) <\/i><\/b>(Shuhei Hatano, <\/b>2022). <\/b>In the length of 224 minutes, <\/span>I Remember <\/span><\/i>tells a story about ten people of Tottori. This film is made up of their individual fragments of memories from lives spanning the prewar years to the present, from birth and childhood to their work and experiences starting families all the way up to today, along with memories of the Tottori region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> Jury\u2019s Special Mention <\/i><\/b>of <\/span>International Feature\u2013Length Documentary Competition Category <\/b>of<\/span> Festival Film Dokumenter 2022 is awarded to <\/span>1970<\/i><\/b> (Tomasz Wolski, 2021)<\/b>. This Polish documentary not only tells us about how history happened but also presents it through a different point of view. Through archival recordings and animations, we are able to observe various power mechanisms and rebellion that is told from the perspective of the oppressors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Indonesia Feature\u2013Length Documentary Competition | Kompetisi Dokumenter Panjang Indonesia<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Indonesia Feature\u2013Length Documentary Competition Category <\/b>of<\/span> Festival Film Dokumenter 2022 is awarded to <\/span>Motherland Memories (Tano Na Uli, Hagodanganki) <\/i><\/b>(<\/b>Moses Parlindungan O., 2022). <\/b>This film presents us the struggle of indigenous Batak woman,\u00a0 Ompung Putra Boru, who retraces her life stories through photographs that interweave her past and present. As a central subject of this film, Ompung Putra Boru has to sacrifice and juggle her role as a wife, mother, healer and indigenous land defender in two neighboring villages. Her multi-layered stories are juxtaposed with visual records of everyday life in the two villages, where people\u2019s living space is still increasingly threatened by a giant pulp expansion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Short Documentary Competition | Kompetisi Dokumenter Pendek\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Short Documentary Competition Category <\/b>of<\/span> Festival Film Dokumenter 2022 is awarded to <\/span>Teguh <\/i><\/b>(<\/b>Riani Singgih, 2021). <\/b>This film presents us with great struggle from a dishonorably discharged policeman due to his sexual orientation, Teguh. With the support of his partner, he decided to pursue justice by bringing his case to court, an act that has never been done before in Indonesia from the LGBTQI+ community. The film tells a love story between Teguh and Tonny, which becomes the foundation of why this fight needs to be fought for.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student Documentary Competition | Kompetisi Dokumenter Pelajar<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The<\/span> Jury\u2019s Special Mention <\/i><\/b>of <\/span>Student Competition Category <\/b>of<\/span> Festival Film Dokumenter 2022 is awarded to <\/span>Wek Wek <\/i><\/b>(Lukman Maulana, 2022). <\/b>Through the eyes of young filmmakers, this film tells us about Sukirman, a duck herder. <\/span>Sukirman and the duck herders live a nomadic life where they move from one area to another.<\/span><\/p>\n
