This mine was one of the caliche suppliers to Germany at that time. On the other hand, caliche<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is also very dangerous for mine workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52496732605_977ed76148_b.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through Fantasmagor\u00eda (2020), we will be invited to look at the caliche mine<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maria Elena, located in Chile. Maria Elena, long abandoned and out of operation, has become a place for a small community to live. The camera&#8217;s portrayal as the eyes of the deceased nitrate mine workers tells the story of how the laborers live. Using voice over methods<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">we will feel how to breathe the air\u00a0 that is contaminated with nitrate dust, worsening eyesight, and some work accidents of mine workers where the company does not protect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52496812928_48669341c8_b.jpg\" width=\"1023\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The experimental style of Fantasmagor\u00eda (2020) will invite us to explore the mining area, reflecting on the stories that evaporate through the inanimate objects there.
