The ruling was conducted on Monday, December 2nd, 2019. The three jury members were Jesse Cumming (film curator, Associate Programmer of Toronto International Film Festival&#8217;s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wavelength<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> program), Tony Trimarsano (Indonesian documentary film director), and Wisnu Prasetya Utomo (media researcher of Communication Studies of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Gadjah Mada).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eight films made it to the final phase of the competition: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cipto Rupo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Catur Panggih Raharjo, 2019), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Daughter\u2019s Memory <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Kartika Pratiwi, 2018), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Diary of Cattle<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Lidia A &amp; David D)<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Sujud <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Pahlawan Bimantara, 2019),<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Perempuan Tana Humba <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Lasja F. Susatyo, 2019), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Irama Betawi <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Ibrahim Hanif, 2019), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Luar Biasa <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Erika Dyah Muftiarini, 2018),<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More Than Work<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (Luviana Ariyanti, 2019).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;The finalists were all quite different in terms of their forms, scales, and scopes. Some were intimate and focused, the others were very broad. Progressive issues were discussed, such as LGBT rights, women&#8217;s rights, and environmental issues,&#8221; claimed Jesse Cumming. He added that he was quite optimistic that the youth participants have a bright future ahead of them in the upcoming documentary scenes, including the next installments of FFD.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The judging began with the screening of the eight films attended by the jury members at Sonobudoyo Cinema from 12 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. The discussion was held shortly after in Kafe Tujuan, Tirtodipuran from 4.30 p.m .to 5.45 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The discussion made sure that the winner was chosen not merely based on scores on evaluation rubric sheets. Instead, it was designed so that the juries could come to a mutual conclusion to choose the winner of Short Documentary Competition of FFD 2019.
