ABOUT FORUM As organization who runs since 2002, Forum Film Dokumenter (FFD) serve its purpose to expand documentary as a medium of expression and knowledge ecosystem through exhibition, education, and archiving program.
Competition program has been one of the fundamental agendas of Festival Film Dokumenter (FFD). This program is devoted to the films that successfully capture actual issues as well as convey critical perspective to it.
A total of 286 documentary films were received this year, 26 of which were selected to be featured in the competition. The selected films were classified into several categories: Indonesian Feature-length Documentary category, International Feature-length Documentary category, Short Documentary category, and Student Documentary category.
Four main awards await the best documentary film from each category. The awarding ceremony will be held on 7th December 2019, along with the festival’s closing ceremony.
Jesse Cumming is a film curator and writer based in Toronto. He has curated, co-curated, and presented programs with The Museum of Modern Art, The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Collectif Jeune Cinéma, the Volksbühne Berlin, and more. Since 2016 he has served as Programming Associate for the Wavelengths section of the Toronto International Film Festival, and in 2016 he developed Vertical Features, a Toronto screening series dedicated to experimental non-fiction film and video. His writing has appeared in Cinema Scope, The Brooklyn Rail, MUBI Notebook, Filmmaker Magazine, Hyperallergic, Canadian Art, and more.
Tonny Trimarsanto, a film director whose films have been screened and honored in International Film Festival, he is also a lecturer at ISI Surakarta.
Wisnu Prasetya Utomo, experienced at writing and researching the issues of media and journalism. He is currently working as a media researcher at the Department of Communication Studies of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
