Screening: Talking Money

Filmed entirely from the bank’s side of the table, a place where values are negotiated and currencies exchanged. The film projects a collective image of customers being trapped by an invisible net and highlights the conflicting interests of the two sides in the prevaricating language they each use, allowing viewers a fascinating look behind the scenes of modern banking. At the end of the film, you can almost feel the global power of money in your bones.

School of Seeing

Watching film is for everyone, so is talking about it. Then, what is the importance of filmmakers watching and discussing the film they watch?

For those who have experienced the making of documentary films, watching the film they made is a process of reflection on the creation. Each film rolled on screen is a story built or a unique statement or a description of the challenges as well as its achievements. Post-screening discussion is a chance to make room for references about the aesthetic devices of documentary film and variety of imaging to be grasped or experienced. Their technical knowledge and experience will make them capable to express things about shooting method and other technical aspects.

On School of Seeing, In-Docs invited two program tutors (Sebastian Winkels and Lisabona Rahman) to select some titles of films to be watched and reviewed by the participants. After going through the online learning process for five months, the participants will finally meet in person in Yogyakarta in a discussion forum held in collaboration with Festival Film Dokumenter. During the discussion, the participants currently developing their documentary films will be able to given the opportunity to discuss their works in the School of Seeing.

*This program are restricted only for School of Seeing’s participants, except discussion session on School of Seeing about ‘Talking Money’.
