ABOUT FORUM As organization who runs since 2002, Forum Film Dokumenter (FFD) serve its purpose to expand documentary as a medium of expression and knowledge ecosystem through exhibition, education, and archiving program.
For the past 17 years, the Competition program has become the core of Festival Film Dokumenter. This platform aims to present the various films that try to capture the actual issues around them and put on critical perspective to it. A documentary should allow the creative freedom to present its issue in a creative ways of storytelling. This program will invite us to enjoy a well-tailored critical ideas in three categories.
This year we received 118 submissions for International Feature-length Documentary category, 100 films for Indonesian Short Documentary category, and 23 films for Indonesian Students Documentary. We will have three main awards for the Best Documentary Film from each category. The awarding ceremony will be on 12th December at the festival’s closing ceremony.
Makiko is the coordinator of New Asian Currents program – A Competition program introducing emerging filmmakers from across Asia at Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival. She is also working on a decade plus documentary film project with a Filipino-Japanese family living in Yamagata.
Nicolas Boone comes from the Écoles des beaux-arts in Lyon and Paris. He then directs a number of medium-length and short films that will make him known throughout the world.
Bonnie is a Indonesian historian. He is the founder and the editor-in-Chief of a popular history magazine called the Historia. Prior to that, he had worked as a journalist and columnist of Tempo Magazine.
